COVID-19 Update

A Message From Andy Doak, CEO of the Police Credit Union

Updated March 26th, 2020

I wanted to reassure our Members that The Police Credit Union continues to monitor the Coronavirus situation and respond to the most recent developments as directed by Government Officials and Officials of Public Health taking measures to reduce risks to our members, our staff and our business.

We have implemented a Coronavirus Task Force that meets daily to review the latest news and events to ensure that we can respond diligently when developments arise.  A comprehensive plan is in place to ensure essential services to our members are maintained.

The Police Credit Union remains dedicated to our members’ financial well-being.  We are taking measures to ensure that critical operations remain in place and member service continues with as little disruption as possible.

The safety of our staff and our members remains our top priority. We have been communicating with staff on personal protection protocols to ensure exposure is reduced in the workplace. Enhanced cleaning measures are occurring at our branch and corporate office locations. Staff are being asked to follow the guidelines set forth by the Ministry of Health and where necessary have been asked to stay home until their symptoms subside and they are confident they do not carry the COVID-19 virus.  We ask our members to also be mindful of their health and avoid visiting our branches if they exhibit any of the symptoms relayed from the Ministry of Health. Social distancing should be encouraged until normal times return.

Our branches remain open unless staffing levels dictate otherwise. As we have seen over the last few days, information comes quickly, and a changing landscape could occur anytime. We will keep you informed of any service level changes by posting any recent developments on our website. Our branches can also be contacted by telephone and email.  So far, our staff report that there has been a slight decline in member traffic conducting their financial business at our branches, if you can, we suggest calling ahead to make an appointment to ensure your Financial Service Officer is available to met with you.

Effective Monday March 30th, we will close all our branches to the public and will only take members by appointment only. The hours for appointment only will be 10:00 am and closing at 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Our College branch will be closed to all members until April 6th 2020. We will update you with futher information on this branch when it becomes available.

We want to remind our members that you can always conduct your banking on-line or by using your smart phone, 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  This way you can check your balances, pay your bills, and even deposit your cheques providing the convenience you desire during these stressful times. If you have not yet done so, I would encourage you to sign up for online or mobile banking as soon as possible. If you wish to speak to us live, our Call Centre team can help you through the process if you require assistance. Effective Monday March 30th, Call Centre hours of operation will change to Monday through Friday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm.

We are in this together and “will take care of our own”, if you are experiencing any financial challenges I would encourage you to reach out to us with your unique circumstances as we are dedicated to helping our members through these uncertain times.

Thank you

Andy Doak
