Co-operative Young Leaders Program Experience

Co-operative Young Leaders is a summer experience unlike any other. This week-long program brings young people together from all across Ontario to learn about and practice communication and leadership through co-operative activities. Since its inception in 1967 to its 50th year in 2017, more than 3,300 young people have gone through Ontario co-operative young leaders programs.

Every summer, Ontario Credit Unions and co-ops gives young people a chance to attend Co-operative Young Leaders. CYL is a program of the Ontario Co-operative Association.

The program runs for 7 days with start dates throughout July and August. For specific start dates go to www.ontario.coop, and click on Co-operative Young leaders Program under Programs & Services.  The camp is held at the  Co-operative Education Centre (CEC) owned by Gay Lea Foods Co-operative near Aylmer Ontario.

STEP ONE:  For your opportunity to attend CYL, the candidate MUST submit a short essay (200-500 words) on why he/she wishes to attend the camp.  The essay must contain the candidate’s full name address, contact phone numbers and email address (if applicable).  The essay is to be submitted via mail, fax, or scan and email to:

IMPORTANT: Applicants must apply to the Police Credit Union and be officially approved for their sponsorship prior to registering to CYL directly. Essays MUST be received by Friday May 11, 2018 5:00 p.m to be considered for credit union sponsorship.

STEP TWO: Successful candidates will be notified directly by the Executive Secretary and be provided with the registration instructions.
