2024 Board of Directors Statement of Interest

    OWEN MASHINTER

Owen has been married to his wife Joy for 40 years, has 3 adult children and 6 grandchildren. One of Owen’s daughters and son-in-law are both currently police officers with YRP.

Owen started his career in policing with York Regional Police in 2004 at the age of 38 after spending many years as the owner/operator of his own contracting and distribution company. Owen has worked for 17 years in #3 District in Georgina on general patrol and in the detective office.

Ever since joining YRP, Owen always had a keen interest in the association, looking after the best interests and working conditions for the membership. He was involved as the association rep at #3 District for 4 years and then in 2018, Owen was elected as the full-time secretary-treasurer.

During his three-year tenure, Owen was able to make many positive and progressive changes for the YRPA, which included establishing a for profit corporation and board, laying the groundwork for the creation of the new CAO position and role, expansion of the wellness property program and negotiating the sale of association land holdings in Newmarket. Owen was also responsible for the project management for the new YRPA facility in Aurora which has become the proud new home of the TPCU York Branch.

Owen has been a loyal member of the TPCU since 2004 and is interested in seeing the TPCU continue to succeed and grow in the future, remaining up to date and current with the products and services that it can offer to all members of our policing family. If elected to the board, Owen plans to work diligently to promote the TPCU and grow the business base, showing the value that the TPCU has for all policing personnel and their families.
