2026 Board of Directors Statement of Interest

CHRIS KIRKPATRICK

I am expressing my interest in serving as a Director of The Police Credit Union (TPCU) because I believe deeply in its mission and its commitment to serving members. Or more simply put, "taking care of our own". With over 25 years of policing experience, including my current role as Deputy Chief of Police with the Durham Regional Police Service, I bring leadership, financial oversight, and governance experience that aligns closely with TPCU's expectations for its Board. The TPCU has been with me from my second day in policing, providing assistance, advice, and being an integral part of every major event in my life. From the worry of paying for OPC (first class), my first car loan, marriage, mortgage, and starting a family.  TPCU has made all those events easier and allowed me to focus on work and family, as they took care of me. It's now my turn to give back.

Throughout my career, I have been recognized for sound decision-making under pressure, the ability to navigate complex challenges, and a commitment to elevating professional standards. Leading a $50M operational portfolio, I have demonstrated the business judgment, financial acumen, and strategic thinking required to guide large, multifaceted organizations. My work advancing governance reforms, strenghtening accountability, and implementing transparent, merit-based processes reflects principled leadership and objective analysis - qualities essential for effective Board service.

My governance experiences includes serving as a Board Member with St. John Ambulance (Toronto Branch) and its Honours & Awards Committee; Chair OACP Professional Standards/SIU Committee; and Board Member of Victim Services of Durham Region. My leadership is diversity advisory committees also underscores my commitment to equity and community well-being.

I value collaborative governance and responsibility of "speaking with one voice." I would be honoured to contribute to TPCU's continued success.
